Activity 2: Musical Worm Spelling (6 years old)

We suggested that this game should be for the older age groups as this game requires the children to master their spelling skills. This game will definitely appeal to the children as young children like to play games that use audio instructing them on what they should do and also with the presence of background music.
When I clicked on the icon of the game, the downloading process was quick and efficient and when it has done, the image of the three musical worms came out with some soft music playing and also an audio voice saying press the start button to start the game. Through this game, the child would be able to hear, see the spelling and writing of the word.




There are a total of two levels for this game, the first level will be easier as clues and the guided alphabets are present. However, as the level increases, the difficulty level would also increase. For every level, there will be a picture clue situated at the top right of the screen. This is to further aid the children if they don’t know what they are supposed to spell, they would just have to bring the mouse over the picture and an audio saying out the picture’s name can be heard.

The interesting and cute part that everyone will be looking forward would be when you manage to spell each word. The musical worms will perform for you with their catchy tune.

Activity 1: Kailan’s Apple Catch (4years old)

When I first clicked on the game and wanted to play it, the downloading bar pops out. Instead of plain bar downloading the game, this site uses numbers 1-5 to show the downloading progress. This will somehow teaches the children on their counting on skills.





Apart from that, the colors, music and the quality used for the game attract me too. The main colors used for the apples are green, red and yellow.

The music isn’t too irritating and there are voices to help them understand better on how to play the game. As for the quality, it was clear as it uses high definition quality. The auditory instructions given were precise thus enabling the children to easily understand what the game is all about.

The illustrations there also aid the children’s understanding.
For the child to have an independent learning experience, I recommend this game to children age 4 and above. This is because, the children has to refine his fine motor skills to be able to control the mouse. Apart from that, this game enable the children to explore and navigate the mouse as when they places the mouse over the play button, there will be an auditory instruction saying, “Click play to start!” thus the children then knows that when they click there, the game will start.





This game basically teaches the children counting and colors identification.
Before the game start, there will be a recipe card stating how many and what color apples should they catch. There will also be an illustration stating how they should move their mouse to catch the apples. For instance, if the recipe card states that they must catch four red apples, and if they have caught an apple, one of the four apples on the recipe card will light up. This enables the children to better understand on the concept of quantity.






Through this game:
- The children’s counting skills will be enhanced.
- They are able to identify different colors and the fruit’s name
- The children are able to learn basic language of different culture.
